Starting basis for climate targets
In the Paris Climate Agreement of 2015, the global community pledged to limit global warming to well under 2-degree, ideally to 1.5-degree , above the pre-industrial level. To achieve this target, Germany is striving to become climate-neutral by the year 2045. In the Federal Climate Action Act, the German federal government specified emission reduction targets for different economic sectors to be achieved by the year 2030. These ambitious targets necessitate comprehensive measures to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in all economic sectors, including agriculture.
