G1-5 – Political influence and lobbying activities
Political neutrality as a principle
As an institution under public law, Rentenbank is committed to political neutrality. At the same time, it maintains close dialogue with policymakers through its governing bodies and other stakeholder engagement activities. To ensure neutrality, the relevant internal frameworks explicitly address the issue of political influence.
Rentenbank does not enter into sponsorship arrangements with, nor does it make donations to, political parties or organisations. Sponsorship and donations are never used to exert improper influence on third parties. Memberships or mandates in political parties held by members of the Management Board or employees on behalf of Rentenbank are also excluded.
The Public Corporate Governance Code of the Federal Government (PCGK), to which the Management Board and Supervisory Board are committed, like-wise emphasises transparency, independence and traceability in corporate governance. Political communication is always conducted in accordance with legal requirements, and the Supervisory Board closely monitors key processes.
No political donations in the reporting year
No political donations were made in the reporting year. There were also no lobbying activities. Accordingly, Rentenbank is not listed in the Transparency Register.
Conflicts of interest and revolving door considerations
During the reporting period, no members of the governing bodies were appointed who had previously held political or administrative office. The Code of Conduct requires all employees to disclose conflicts of interest and to maintain political neutrality.
No member of the Management Board pursued personal interests in their decision-making or requested, was promised or accepted any undue benefits for themselves or a third party. Secondary activities on supervisory boards or comparable supervisory bodies of commercial enterprises may only be undertaken with the approval of the Supervisory Board. The remuneration received is disclosed to Rentenbank and the Supervisory Board and is reported in the annual report.
